This former 18th-century sugar plantation encircled by 30 acres of tropical vegetation is poised 750 feet above the Caribbean in the foothills of Nevis. With its fieldstone Great House and rolling lawns, the place has the feel of an English country manor, West Indies style. Eight bungalows housing just 17 rooms are cloistered amid fragrant greenery, including African tulip trees, hibiscus, frangipani, and jasmine. The Great House, filled with period antiques and paintings evocative of the inn’s storied past, is an elegant setting for nightly cocktails and canapés. It offers a 60-foot outdoor mosaic-tiled pool and tennis court, and complimentary shuttle to its own private, two-acre beach.
